About Me

meewatts: My name is Meegan and at the age of 36 I am finally completing all the things I "should" have done by the time I was 25. I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana until middle school when I moved to Northern Virginia. At 17 I realized if I did not change my environment I was not going to complete high school. So, I packed up my stuff and moved back to Indianapolis where I graduated with honors. Next came the floundering. I worked as a shop girl in a gas station, seed planter at a green house, airline reservations and training, all aspects of restaurant work- some of which I was good at, AmeriCorps camp counselor, and finally settling into a groove as a camp diector for the Peace Learning Center. At 28 I determined I was lacking what all the people I looked up to had - a bachelor's degree. In the true spirit of floundering, I took close to 200 credit hours in various arenas - mostly Architectural Drafting and Design. What has all this schooling taught me? It has taught me that I have a true love for policy and design. Specifically, how those two things impact a great deal of what we experience.
